According to an analysis by Steve Gimblin Personal Injury & Car Accident Lawyers, Texas recorded 135 hit-and-run crashes during the month of July between 2020 and 2024, the second-highest total of any state.

The report found Texas logged 1,071 speeding-related fatal large truck crashes during the study period, averaging approximately 214 deadly crashes each year. Researchers said speeding was involved in 32.8% of all fatal large truck crashes in Texas, ranking the state seventh nationally and placing it 10.8 percentage points above the national average. The study also found Texas accounted for nearly one in five speeding-related fatal truck crashes recorded nationwide.
