Dallas Leads the Nation in DUI Fatal Crash Rate, New Study Finds

DALLAS, Texas (TXAN 24) - Dallas has the highest rate of fatal crashes involving impaired drivers among the nation’s 50 largest cities, according to a new analysis of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) data.
The report found Dallas averages 56.6 DUI-related fatal crashes each year, equal to 4.32 fatal crashes per 100,000 residents—the highest rate in the country. Houston also ranked in the top 10, placing eighth with an average of 68.8 annual DUI fatal crashes and a rate of 2.96 per 100,000 residents.
