TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24 News) — With 50% of precincts reporting, Shonda Marsh is in a commanding lead in the race for Tyler City Council District 3.
Marsh has received 151 votes, accounting for 93.79% of the total reported so far. Her opponent, Christian Gooden, who entered the race as a write-in candidate, has garnered 10 votes, or 6.21%.

This early margin indicates a strong endorsement from voters in the district, which includes portions of East Tyler and surrounding neighborhoods. If the trend continues, Marsh is expected to secure the seat without need for a runoff or recount.
The District 3 race was one of the few contested elections in the area, and Marsh’s apparent victory would mark a continuation of her community-focused agenda centered on economic growth, neighborhood revitalization, and public safety.
Final certified results are expected later this weekend.
TXAN 24 News will provide updates as more numbers come in.
