Texas Senate Race Remains Closely Contested In Weeks Before Election Day

AUSTIN, Texas (TXAN 24) — Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico remain closely positioned in Texas’ U.S. Senate race, according to recent polling ahead of the November 3 midterm election.
A RealClearPolling average covering October 5–19 placed Talarico at 48.2% and Paxton at 46.3%. Individual surveys have shown a similarly tight contest, including a Fox News poll conducted October 15–19 that measured both candidates at 49%.
The race is among the closely watched Senate contests as voters prepare to decide control of Congress. Polling figures represent voter preferences at the time of each survey and do not determine the election outcome.
Texas voters are also weighing broader questions about the economy, health care, immigration, energy and the federal government’s role in state affairs. Candidates’ positions and records provide another way for voters to compare the choices before them.
The differences among polls highlight why field dates, sample sizes and survey methods matter. A small gap in a poll may fall within its margin of error, and results can change as campaigns continue.
Election Day is November 3. Voters can consult the Texas Secretary of State for official election information and their county election office for local voting details.
