Tyler Legacy Student Surrounded Before Being Jumped On Campus, Video Appears to Show

TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) — A video circulating on social media showing a fight involving students at Tyler Legacy High School has sparked backlash online after many viewers claimed the student seen defending herself may also face disciplinary action.

The video appears to show multiple students confronting and surrounding a female student before a physical altercation breaks out. During the incident, the student appears to fight back after being cornered by the group.

Several social media users have defended the student’s actions, arguing she was attempting to protect herself after the confrontation escalated.

Posts shared online also allege that Tyler Independent School District may still pursue disciplinary measures against the student despite claims she acted in self-defense. Allegedly the school resource officers are labeling the incident as mural combat, preventing the victim from pressing charges in the matter.

TXAN 24 has not independently confirmed what disciplinary action, if any, has been taken against the students involved. The district has also not publicly released details surrounding the incident as of Friday morning.
