City Of Rusk Clarifies Hunter Nicholson Is No Longer A Police Officer


RUSK, Texas (TXAN 24) — The City of Rusk has clarified the employment status of Hunter Nicholson following the circulation of a video identifying him as an officer with the Rusk Police Department.
According to a statement released by the City of Rusk on Friday, Nicholson is no longer employed by the City of Rusk and is not a current officer or employee of the Rusk Police Department.
The city said Nicholson’s employment ended effective October 1, 2026.
The clarification comes after a video began circulating publicly that identified Nicholson as a current Rusk police officer. The city did not provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding his departure.
“The City of Rusk is committed to maintaining professional standards and serving every member of the community with fairness, dignity, and respect,” the statement said.
Because the matter involves personnel information, city officials said they will not comment further on confidential or otherwise protected information.
