TROUP, Texas (TXAN 24) — The Troup ISD community is mourning the loss of a sixth-grade student, Easton Roper, whose passing was confirmed by the district this weekend.
In a message shared with families and staff, district officials expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to Easton’s family and loved ones, calling the loss heartbreaking for the entire school community.
Troup ISD announced that counselors and a district support team will be available on campus Monday morning to assist students who may need emotional support. Families are encouraged to talk with their children and to contact the school if additional resources are needed.
“As a school community, we will continue to support one another with compassion, kindness, and care,” the district said, while also asking the public to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.
For those wishing to offer support, donations toward services may be made through Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville or at Troup Middle School. Information regarding memorial services will be shared once arrangements are finalized.
