TIP-OFF: Martin's Mill looks to sweep 2A-D2 Boys, Girls State Championships

Writer: Donovan BridgeforthDonovan Bridgeforth

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (TXAN 24) - The stage is set for a Texas high school basketball showdown as Martins Mill takes on the Lions in the state championship.

The Lions are chasing history, looking to secure a rare three-peat, but Martins Mill is on a mission of their own.

A victory for Martins Mill wouldn’t just bring home a championship; it would etch their program into the record books.

With the Lady Mustangs already claiming the girls’ state title, a win by the boys would make Martins Mill only the second program in the last 16 years to sweep both championships in the same season.

The last team to accomplish this feat was Lipan in 2022-23.

The Lions, however, are no strangers to championship pressure.

With back-to-back titles under their belt, they have the experience and pedigree of a dynasty.

But Martins Mill has been battle-tested all season and now stands one game away from completing a dream season.

With history on the line, expect a hard-fought battle from start to finish.

Will the Lions cement their three-peat, or will Martins Mill deliver a championship sweep for the ages?

Tip-off is set, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
