CROCKETT, Texas (TXAN 24) — A Crockett ISD parent is demanding answers after alleging her first-grade son was assaulted by both classmates and a teacher inside a classroom at Crockett Elementary School.

Laveeta Collins says the incident happened April 20, 2026, when her son, Reginald Evans Jr., was reportedly attacked by two students while a teacher was present. According to Collins, her son sought help multiple times but was ignored before attempting to defend himself.

Collins further alleges that the situation escalated when the teacher, identified as Ms. Curtis, verbally reprimanded the child before physically grabbing him and throwing him to the ground multiple times, then into a chair as he attempted to leave the classroom to get help.

The parent claims this is not the first reported incident involving the teacher, alleging prior accusations of misconduct that were not fully investigated.

Crockett ISD has not yet publicly responded to these specific allegations. TXAN 24 has reached out to district officials for comment and is awaiting a response.

Collins says she is now speaking out not only for her son, but for other students she believes may be experiencing similar issues, citing concerns over student safety, bullying, and accountability within the district.

This remains an active and developing story.
