HOUSTON, Texas (TXAN 24) — Houston combined dominant pitching and timely hitting to defeat McNeese 4-2 Wednesday night at Schroeder Park.

Freshman Connor Udland earned the win with three perfect innings and four strikeouts, setting the tone out of the bullpen. Senior Harrison Boushele followed with four shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out seven without issuing a walk.

Offensively, Cade Climie went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, a run scored, and a stolen base to pace the Cougars. Tre Broussard added a 3-for-4 performance with a double, run, and steal, while Tyler Cox finished 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Houston struck first on Climie’s RBI single, then extended the lead on Jackson LaLima’s ninth home run of the season in the third. Additional runs from Carsten Sabathia III and Climie provided insurance.

McNeese broke the shutout in the ninth, but Houston closed it behind Richie Roman, who recorded the final strikeout.
