OPINION: Not My Tax Dollars

Writer: Trevis BlacknallTrevis Blacknall

Prisoners like the convicted baby murderer in this case don’t have a constitutional right to gender transition surgeries, much less to have taxpayers foot the bill.”

An Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita told Fox News Digital this in an interview after having to appeal a judges’ frivolous ruling to provide transgender reassignment surgery to a man that was convicted of strangling his 11-month-old stepdaughter. All of this at the taxpayers’ expense. Attempting to type through these examples without my blood boiling to the surface is difficult, but the work must be done for the greater good.

On April 6, 2023 ACLU Chicago reported, rather triumphantly, that in a “Historic legal victory” the Federal Bureau of Prisons was able to provide sexual reassignment surgery for a Christina Nichole Iglesias. A study published in the PMC(Public Library of Medicine) found that the total average costs per person ranges from about $53,645 to $133,911 varying depending on factors like location, insurance and personal preference. A certain underbelly of society wants to foist this heinous waste of money onto the taxpayers, in the middle of a recession at that. It actually incenses me to think that this is what the Chicago Federal Bureau of Prisons is focusing on when there were 2,450 shootings in Chicago in 2023, with 617 homicides — the 5th highest year on record since 2004.

In June 2023, the AMA Journal of Ethics posted a peer-reviewed article advocating for the codification of higher standards for gender-affirming care concerning prisoners. They use the 8th amendment to twist the meaning of cruel and unusual punishment to somehow encompass medical hormonal treatment and possibly surgery. Ultimately, the effort to be overly accommodating to criminals that think they can become the opposite sex will unsurprisingly be buttressed by taxpayer dollars because not even the US government is stupid enough to want to pay for this type of frivolous nonsense —And that’s saying something. There's one big problem with these types of peer-reviewed article these days and most people have no idea about it. In 2018, The Grievance Studies Affair proved that the people that publish these social justice-oriented peer reviewed articles do not properly vet their sources. This was done by submitting 20 fake “peer-reviewed” articles to social justice-oriented publications and studying the outcomes. What they found was astonishing. Out of the 20 submitted papers, 4 were published, 3 were accepted but not yet published, 6 were rejected and 7 were still under review when the hoax was revealed. The most notorious culprit was a paper that literally took the ideas of Mein Kampf — yes, Hitler’s autobiography — and repackaged them under the shiny wrapping paper of modern feminism. Affillia, a feminist journal from Sage publishing actually published this article, and yes; these are the same type of journals producing evidence to support transgender surgeries for inmates.

If surgeries for inmates weren’t silly enough, Kamala Harris also semi-frequently floated the idea of taxpayer-funded transition surgeries for illegal aliens. In my opinion this “fringe” issue was a major reason she lost the election in such a grandiose way. Fringe is the keyword here because it seems to be the main divide between the left and the right. Democrats and their supporters argue that because of the relatively low number of cases of trans surgeries being funded for inmates or illegals, conservatives and republicans shouldn’t care. Centrists and people right-of-center politically naturally argue the opposite stance; that because of the low number of cases of this happening, why fundamentally change society to accommodate such drastic outliers, especially at taxpayer expense? Compound this with having to watch and hear about people’s daughters losing in sports to young boys and the locker room implications and you get moderate parents all across the country silently shifting to the right, and that’s exactly what happened.
