LIST: Lubbock, Richardson, Amarillo lead Texas is number of A-Rated Districts by TEA

AUSTIN, Texas (TXAN 24) — The Texas Education Agency’s A–F accountability system shows significant differences in the number of top-rated school districts across the state’s 20 regional education service centers.
Based on the district-level accountability data analyzed by TXAN 24 News, 195 school districts received an A rating, with Region 17 in Lubbock leading the state with 19 A-rated districts.
Region 10 in Richardson followed with 18, while Region 16 in Amarillo recorded 17. Region 11 in Fort Worth ranked fourth with 16 A-rated districts.
Three regions—Houston, Kilgore and San Antonio—each recorded 13 A-rated districts, followed by Waco with 12 and Abilene with 10.
At the other end of the ranking, Region 19 in El Paso had one A-rated district in the dataset. Victoria and Midland each recorded three, while Corpus Christi and Beaumont each had five.

TEA says its A–F accountability ratings evaluate districts and campuses using measures including student achievement, school progress and college, career and military readiness. The agency provides statewide, regional, district and campus-level accountability reports.
