AUSTIN, Texas — The Hallsville Ladycats will take the field today in pursuit of their first-ever state title as they face off against the undefeated Lake Creek Lions in the UIL Class 5A Division II Softball State Championship. First pitch is scheduled for 4:50 p.m. at Red & Charline McCombs Field in Austin.

Hallsville (36-5-1), riding a season filled with momentum, will lean on ace pitcher Lindsey Dubberly, who enters the title game with a 21-4 record and a strong presence at the plate.

The Ladycats are making their first appearance in the state championship game.

Standing in their way is Lake Creek (36-0), a dominant force in Texas high school softball. The Lions are seeking their third state title in four years under head coach Candyce Carter and have amassed a remarkable 227-22 program record since their 2019 inception.

Junior pitcher Sara Wiggins leads Lake Creek with a 21-0 record and key offensive contributions.

With a championship on the line and history at stake, today’s matchup promises to be a hard-fought battle between two talented squads.
