FORT WORTH, Texas (TXAN 24) — Families, runners and nature lovers are invited to lace up their shoes this fall as the Fort Worth Botanic Garden hosts its inaugural Family Fun Run to help fund its upcoming Baker Martin Family Garden.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. Participants will take part in a one-mile course through the Garden’s 120-acre grounds, with runners, walkers, strollers and even dogs welcome to join.
Following the run, attendees can enjoy a family-friendly celebration featuring yoga sessions, live music from a DJ, food trucks and additional activities. Participants wearing their official event shirt will also receive complimentary admission to the Garden for the remainder of the day.
Organizers say proceeds from the event will directly support construction of the Baker Martin Family Garden, a two-acre expansion designed for children and families.
The project will include 11 interactive nature spaces, a 150-foot shallow creek, a living Texas pond, open play areas and a LEED-certified Discovery Center. The new attraction is expected to open for members in November 2026 before a public grand opening in March 2027.
Early bird registration runs through Aug. 16, with adult registration starting at $40, children’s registration at $30, and dog registration at $8. Registration closes Sept. 16, and no race-day registration will be available.
The Fort Worth Botanic Garden, located at 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd., is the oldest public botanic garden in Texas and serves as home to 23 specialty gardens and the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT).
