FC Dallas Falls 4-2 to San Jose in Physical, Back-and-Forth Match at Toyota Stadium

FRISCO, Texas (TXAN 24) — FC Dallas dropped a hard-fought 4-2 decision to the San Jose Earthquakes on Tuesday night in Frisco, as a tense match full of momentum swings ended with the home side short-handed.

Dallas struck first behind a 30th-minute goal from Petar Musa, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. San Jose responded with urgency after the break, putting together a second-half surge led by goals from Cristian Arango (50’) and Jamariee Martínez (57’) to take a 2-1 lead.

The back-and-forth nature of the match continued as FC Dallas leveled the score at 2-2 in the 68th minute, thanks to a strong finish from Sebastien Ibeagha. But disaster struck just over 10 minutes later when midfielder Alan Velasco da Silva Ferreira was shown a red card in the 79th minute, forcing Dallas to play the remainder of the match with 10 men.

San Jose capitalized on the advantage quickly. Goals from Benji Leroux (76’) and Mark-Anthony Kaye deep into stoppage time (90+9’) sealed the win for the Earthquakes and left Dallas with no points from a game they once led.

The loss is a tough blow for FC Dallas, who are battling to climb the standings in the Western Conference. They remain two spots out of the playoff picture, with the Houston Dynamo — who also played Tuesday — sitting just ahead of them.

FC Dallas will need a short memory and quick recovery as they look to rebound in their next outing.
