TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) — Cumberland Academy has completed a review of instructional minutes after school closures from January 26–28, 2026, confirming that most campuses remain in compliance with state requirements.

Middle School and High School campuses have met all required instructional minutes. No changes to the school day will be made, and no make-up days are necessary. Cumberland Academy High School also confirmed it has sufficient minutes to cover the missed day on Monday, February 2, 2026, when classes were canceled due to a gas leak. No additional time will be required for that closure.

However, Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, and The Leadership Academy will extend the school day by 10 minutes to recover missed instructional time.

Beginning Tuesday, February 17, 2026, new school hours for those campuses will be 7:55 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. Dismissal will occur 10 minutes later than usual.

School officials say the adjustment ensures compliance with state instructional requirements and eliminates the need to use calendar-designated make-up days.
