HOUSTON, Texas (TXAN 24) — Chevron announced the rollout of its next-generation Techron fuel additive across all U.S. Chevron and Texaco gasoline grades, saying the updated formula is designed to provide stronger protection against harmful engine deposits caused by lower-quality fuels.

The company said the reformulated Techron additive builds on decades of fuel research and testing aimed at improving engine cleanliness, efficiency and long-term vehicle performance.

“Fuel technology never stands still,” said Andy Walz, president of Chevron Downstream, Midstream and Chemicals. “This new Techron formulation builds on what drivers already expect from our branded fuels — clean engines, reliable performance and confidence at the pump.”

Chevron said the new additive underwent laboratory testing, engine studies and comparisons against competing fuels before its nationwide release.

According to the company, fuels containing next-generation Techron can clean up to 100% of harmful deposits left behind by lower-quality fuels when used consistently. The company noted the testing was based on industry-standard gasoline direct injection injector evaluations.

The updated additive is now available at Chevron- and Texaco-branded stations nationwide.

Texaco has long used Techron as a core part of its gasoline lineup, with Chevron calling the latest update part of its broader focus on fuel innovation and engine performance standards.
