BREAKING: Greg Abbott’s Decision Saves THC Product Access in Texas

AUSTIN, Texas (TXAN 24) — Governor Greg Abbott has vetoed SB3 — a controversial bill that would have banned nearly all hemp-derived THC products in Texas, dealing a major blow to the state’s hemp industry. A special session is set for July 21 to revisit the issue.

Jim Higdon, co-founder of Cornbread Hemp, says the veto is a turning point:

“This marks the beginning of the end of marijuana prohibition in the U.S. A sitting Republican governor rejected fear-based prohibition and stood up for the rights of Americans to access legal THC products.”

Cornbread Hemp, which serves over 20,000 Texas customers, is calling this a historic moment not just for the state, but for the national hemp market and federal cannabis reform efforts.
