#21 Chapel Hill Girls Basketball cruise over Kilgore 40-29

CHAPEL HILL, Texas (TXAN 24) - On Tuesday evening we saw two winning East Texas girls ball clubs face-off as Kilgore (14-9) visited #21 Chapel Hill (22-5).

As the game tipped off both teams seemed evenly matched in the first period—resulting in a 10 all score at the end of the period. This was as low scoring quarter equally a defensive battle on both ends.

The struggle to find a rhythm by Kilgore and Chapel Hill alike kept this first half interesting. The home team, Chapel Hill, took a slim lead into halftime. Kilgore made a knack this game of hanging around and not beating themselves.

After the halftime break, the home team came out and extended the lead almost immediately.

Kilgore manage to battle back but big shots from #5 Ayana Gardner of Chapel Hill kept the distance with a score of 30-22 in the home team’s favor to end the period.

In the 4th Quarter Gardner took over the game, not just from a scoring perspective. As a well coached ball club, the defense from Chapel Hill never let up.
