TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) — Episode 3 slows the series down again, but in a way that deepens the mythology and widens the lens on Derry’s haunted history.
Now You See It takes viewers back to 1908, offering brief, eerie glimpses of the ancient presence that still terrorizes the town decades later. These flashbacks don’t give everything away, but they add weight to the creature’s legacy and hint at how long its influence has shaped the land.
Back in the present-day storyline, the children step forward as the driving force. Determined to clear the cloud of suspicion surrounding the recent murders, they accept the dangerous task of trying to gather real evidence of the true culprit. Their decision creates a subtle shift: the kids are no longer just reacting to fear—they’re confronting it.
Meanwhile, the military side of the narrative turns sharply supernatural. Dick Halloran experiences a telepathic encounter with the creature, which is concealed inside a massive circus-style transport box labeled “Pennywise.”
That single detail ties together the converging arcs of soldiers, townsfolk, and the land’s original inhabitants, all of whom disagree on how to handle the Pennywise entity.
It’s a layered conflict, quietly showing how fear fractures alliances.
The kids, simply calling the creature it, begin putting their plan into motion despite how dangerous it is. There are no shocking deaths in this episode, which gives it a more drawn-out feel compared to the first two chapters. But it works; the pacing serves the episode’s purpose as a bridge between the early terror and the deeper origin story that’s unfolding.
Now You See It may be more methodical, but its reveals, its atmosphere, and its expanding lore keep the tension alive.
As the season builds toward its larger mythology, this episode lays essential groundwork, earning a thoughtful 8.1/10.
