TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) — A celebrated Texas author and advocate for the visually impaired has officially made Tyler her new home.

Alexandria Clarimond, a military veteran and vision-loss survivor, relocated from San Antonio this fall, bringing with her a growing literary presence and a mission centered on resilience, spirituality, and expanding awareness around visual impairment.

Clarimond’s debut novel, Sight, has already drawn attention for its emotional depth and distinctive perspective.

The story follows 81-year-old Elora as she reflects on a lifetime shaped by love, loss, awakening, and the gradual progression of macular degeneration.

Through Elora’s internal journey, Clarimond explores what it truly means to see—far beyond physical vision.

Her own experience with macular degeneration informs much of her work and her advocacy.

Clarimond has pledged proceeds from Sight to the BrightFocus Foundation, a research institution currently facing challenges due to federal funding cuts.

She says her writing is only one part of a broader mission to elevate conversations around low-vision conditions and support those navigating them.

Clarimond’s move to Tyler, she says, is about expanding her connection with readers and building new creative relationships in East Texas.

Her book is available through Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and her Linktree.
