Vehicle Catches Fire Outside Sweet Union Apartments in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Texas (TXAN 24) — A vehicle caught fire outside Sweet Union Apartments on US 69 in Jacksonville early Friday afternoon, sending plumes of smoke into the air and alarming nearby residents.


The blaze erupted around Friday afternoon near 1011 U.S. 69. Witnesses reported hearing a loud pop before flames engulfed the vehicle. Jacksonville Fire Department responded quickly, extinguishing the flames before they could spread to other vehicles or nearby structures. No injuries were reported.


Residents gathered to watch firefighters control the blaze, many expressing relief that the situation was managed swiftly. “It was really scary to see how fast the fire spread,” said a resident. “We’re just grateful it didn’t get worse.”





Officials have not yet determined the cause of the fire but are investigating to see if it was a mechanical issue or if other factors may have played a role. This incident follows ongoing concerns among tenants about safety issues at Sweet Union Apartments, which has been the subject of complaints regarding unresolved health and maintenance issues.
