TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) — As students gear up for a new school year, local entrepreneur Callie is stepping up in a major way to support local families.
CEO and Master Loctician Calie, who has served the Tyler community for over eight years, is hosting a Back-to-School Community Cookout this Friday, August 8 at 9 a.m. — and it’s packed with free services, food, fun, and giveaways.
The event will take place at Cream’s Creations, where Calie and her team are offering 25 free retwists and 25 free haircuts on a first-come, first-served basis for ages 5-17.
She’s teaming up with six local barbers, five Master Locc students, and two well-known area cosmetologists to make sure each child is ready to walk into school feeling confident and fresh.
But it’s not just about hair — it’s a full community celebration.
While kids are getting serviced, families can enjoy:
Bounce houses,
Snow cones,
Cotton candy,
Barbecue,
Kickball,
Games,
…and more!
Each student will also receive a free backpack filled with school supplies, ensuring they’re not just looking good, but fully prepared for the school year ahead.
“We are here to support the community in a major way and have fun while doing so!!” said Calie
