TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) — After a review by league officials, the controversial ending between the Thundercats and GoGetHers has officially been ruled a tie.

View the play here.

Initially, points were awarded to the Thundercats following an interception that was blown dead by officials during the play. However, upon further review, the league determined that the play should not have been blown dead, and once it was, the only fair options were to retry the attempt or decide the outcome by coin flip.

Instead, in the interest of fairness and sportsmanship, both teams will walk away with a tie on their record.

The call comes after a discussion among league officials, coaches, and players, with many agreeing that while mistakes happen, the most important thing is maintaining the integrity of the game.

Despite the ruling, both squads showed flashes of elite play. The Thundercats’ defense continued to prove why they’re one of the toughest units in the league, while the GoGetHers’ offensive rhythm showed steady improvement.

Fans can expect both teams to come out hungry in their next matchups as they look to put this controversial finish behind them.

Final Ruling: Thundercats 6– GoGetHers 6 (Tie)
