Texas Lottery Jackpot Climbs Past $300 Million Ahead of Tuesday Drawing

AUSTIN, Texas (TXAN 24) — Lottery players across Texas are rushing to purchase tickets as the Mega Millions jackpot has climbed past an estimated $300 million ahead of Tuesday night’s drawing.

Convenience stores and lottery retailers throughout the state reported increased traffic Monday as the growing jackpot continues attracting attention nationwide. Officials with the Texas Lottery say ticket sales traditionally surge once jackpots reach the $300 million mark.

No winning ticket matched all six numbers in Friday’s drawing, allowing the prize to continue rolling over. The cash option is expected to exceed $140 million before taxes.

Texas has produced multiple Mega Millions and Powerball jackpot winners over the years, including several multimillion-dollar prizes sold in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. Lottery officials continue reminding players that odds of winning the grand prize remain extremely low despite the growing excitement.
