FORT WORTH, Texas (TXAN 24) — At halftime in this Elite Eight matchup, Texas has taken full control, putting together a dominant first half to build a strong lead over Michigan.
From the opening tip, the Longhorns dictated the pace. Texas came out aggressive on both ends of the floor, attacking the basket, converting high-percentage looks, and capitalizing on nearly every Michigan mistake. Their efficiency offensively has been the difference, as they’ve consistently found ways to score inside and in transition.
Michigan has struggled to settle in. The Wolverines have had a tough time finding a rhythm offensively, with missed shots and stalled possessions keeping them from building any real momentum. Every time it looked like Michigan might string something together, Texas responded with another run.
Defensively, Texas has been just as impressive—applying pressure, forcing difficult shots, and turning stops into quick points on the other end. The Longhorns have also controlled the boards, limiting second-chance opportunities while creating extra possessions for themselves.
Heading into the second half, Michigan will need a major shift—more composure, better execution, and a way to slow down a Texas team that looks confident and in complete command.
