CANTON, Ohio (TXAN 24) – July 20, 2025 — The Texas Fury Texans capped off a dominant run with a 19-0 shutout of the Bad Rabbits Cowboys to claim the NFL FLAG High School Girls National Championship.
After coming up short in last year’s semifinals, Coach Keenan Hughs wasn’t sure this year’s group had the fire — but in Canton, they caught fire fast.
Quarterback Emery Beckett went a perfect 8-for-8 for 102 yards and 3 touchdowns, earning MVP honors. Her top targets included Zahara Hill and Kelsey Quinn, who each found the end zone and racked up clutch catches.
Defensively, Texas Fury was impenetrable. Kaitlyn Reynolds and Sonya Chalil both snagged key interceptions, while the Texans turned away multiple red zone threats — including a late first-half stand after a deep strike from the Bad Rabbits.
The championship win comes just as Coach Hughs begins a new chapter — recently hired to lead Concordia University’s new women’s flag football program in Austin.
“This is what heart looks like,” said Beckett postgame. “My receivers made me look good — I love them with my whole heart.”
With NFL FLAG continuing to grow, the Texas Fury Texans are now officially the national standard.
