
TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) – Shonda Marsh, a lifelong resident of Northwest Tyler and a distinguished leader in healthcare, has officially announced her candidacy for the District 3 seat on the Tyler City Council. With over 30 years of experience in healthcare and a deep commitment to community advocacy, Marsh is poised to bring transformative leadership to the district.
Standing before the iconic Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "I Have a Dream" mural on the historic "The Cut," Marsh shared her vision for Northwest Tyler’s future. “This sacred space is more than a landmark—it's a living testament to the resilience, passion, and unity of our community,” said Marsh. “With great humility and pride, I am stepping forward to represent the incredible people of District 3.”
A Leader Rooted in Service
Marsh’s career in healthcare includes leadership roles during the COVID-19 pandemic and a dedication to mentoring future professionals.
She holds degrees in Respiratory Therapy, a Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration from the University of Phoenix, and a Master’s from Walden University, where she is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Healthcare Administration.
Her campaign focuses on values that have defined her life: resilience, equity, and collaboration.
“This campaign is not about me; it’s about amplifying the voices of Northwest Tyler,” Marsh explained. “We will honor our district’s rich history while building a future that ensures every family has the opportunity to thrive.”

Marsh’s platform includes:
Expanding healthcare access to improve physical and mental health resources for all residents.
Promoting economic growth by uplifting local businesses and creating jobs.
Enhancing neighborhood safety and infrastructure while preserving the district’s unique heritage.
Investing in youth education and community engagement to empower the next generation.

The campaign will officially launch on January 4, 2025, with a special event featuring Shonda Marsh’s keynote speech and opportunities for community engagement.
