SAN JACINTO, Texas (TXAN 24) — On April 6, Texans honor the Battle of San Jacinto, the decisive conflict in 1836 that secured Texas’ independence from Mexico.

The victory, led by Sam Houston, lasted just 18 minutes but changed history forever.
