Rusk Rummage Sale to Benefit Eddie Harris Memorial Scholarship

RUSK, Texas (TXAN 24) — The Rusk community will gather on Saturday, September 13, 2025, for a rummage sale supporting the Eddie Harris Memorial Scholarship. The fundraiser begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Old Texas Informer building, located at 941 FM 343 in Rusk, TX.

The scholarship fund honors the late Eddie Harris, a beloved figure in East Texas youth sports. Harris, who coached Little Dribblers basketball for years, left a lasting mark on countless young athletes—including myself. His dedication went far beyond the game; he taught discipline, teamwork, and confidence, lessons that stayed with players long after the final buzzer.

Harris’ influence stretched across East Texas, where he became known as a mentor who poured into the lives of children on and off the court. The scholarship continues that legacy by helping students pursue higher education, carrying forward the values he instilled in his players.

Organizers are welcoming both shoppers and donors, with all proceeds going directly to scholarship recipients. Community members are also encouraged to donate items or financial contributions to further the impact.
