RUSK, Texas (TXAN 24) — The City of Rusk announced Friday that Scott Heagney is no longer employed by the city, marking a leadership change within the Rusk Police Department.
City officials said the decision followed an appropriate administrative review and was made in the best interests of the city and the community. The city did not provide additional details, citing its policy of not commenting on personnel matters.
Officials emphasized that public safety services will continue without interruption and that steps are being taken to ensure leadership stability during the transition. The city also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a professional, accountable, and transparent police department.
