Rusk PD opens investigation after parent says daughter was slapped in class at Rusk ISD

RUSK, Texas (TXAN 24) — The Rusk Police Department has opened an investigation after a Rusk ISD parent says her 14-year-old daughter was slapped across the face by a classmate during sixth period during an incident that reportedly happened in front of a teacher and left visible marks on the student’s face.
Rusk Police Chief confirmed to TXAN 24 News that an official investigation is now underway into the classroom incident.
TXAN 24 News will reach out to Rusk ISD for comment regarding the district’s handling of the matter and to confirm whether disciplinary action has been taken. The district’s student code of conduct outlines procedures for reporting and investigating on-campus altercations.
