COMMERCE, Texas (TXAN 24) — East Texas A&M University track and field standouts Myles Redding and Jenneil Jacobie have been named the Dixie Turman State Farm Agency Student-Athletes of the Week following standout performances at the Owen Hewett Invitational in Norman, Oklahoma.

Redding, a junior from Waco (University High School), claimed first place in the 800-meter run, clocking a time of 1:53.79. The mark currently ranks first in the Southland Conference and places him 50th nationally among NCAA Division I competitors this season.

Jacobie, a native of Piat Grand Rivière, Saint Lucia, delivered a dominant showing in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 10.75 inches (1.80 meters) to take the event title. Her jump was just 0.01 meters shy of the East Texas A&M school record. The performance leads the Southland Conference and is tied for 18th in the nation.

The weekly honor is awarded by Lion Athletics during the academic year in partnership with the Dixie Turman State Farm Agency, recognizing student-athletes for excellence in competition.

East Texas A&M’s track and field teams return to action this weekend at the Ted Nelson Invitational in College Station, scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
