ROUND ROCK, Texas (TXAN 24) — One of the Texas Rangers’ top prospects is moving up to Triple-A.

Infielder Sebastian Walcott was promoted to the Round Rock Express and was scheduled to make his Triple-A debut Saturday night against the Tacoma Rainiers at Dell Diamond.

Walcott, 20, is ranked as the No. 9 prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline and No. 11 by Baseball America. Both outlets list him as the top prospect in the Rangers organization.

The Bahamas native hit .322 with a .398 on-base percentage and .586 slugging percentage in 37 games with Double-A Frisco this season. He recorded 13 doubles, nine home runs, 20 RBIs, 44 runs and 11 stolen bases.

Walcott also played in all three games of Frisco’s Texas League Southern Division Series, hitting .364 with a home run, four walks and four stolen bases.

His 2026 season began July 14 as he continued his recovery from elbow surgery.

Walcott was signed by Texas as a 17-year-old in 2023. He becomes the first position player under 21 to appear for Round Rock since Evan Carter in 2023.

The promotion gives North Texas baseball fans an opportunity to see one of the Rangers organization’s highest-rated prospects at Dell Diamond.
