HOUSTON, Texas (TXAN 24) - Two men were stabbed at The Bridges of Cypress Creek apartments on August 16 in a case that has now drawn attention from community activists.
According to officials, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg and Sheriff Ed Gonzalez have confirmed that the defendant, 25-year-old Trevon Thomas, is being held in custody following the attack.
Authorities identified the victims as a 43-year-old man and a 26-year-old man. Both were injured during the incident but their current conditions have not been released.
Investigators say Thomas had previously dated one of the victims, raising concerns that the stabbing may have stemmed from a personal dispute.
Activist Quanell X, speaking on behalf of Thomas’ supporters, claimed the defendant was “being held hostage” in the situation before the violence occurred. He has called for a closer review of the case.
As of now, Thomas remains in custody while the investigation continues. No trial date has been announced.
