TULSA, Oklahoma (TXAN 24) — In the first round of the National Invitational Tournament, Stephen F. Austin matched up with #1 seeded Tulsa for the West Region.

It was a high-efficiency game in regulation for K. Thompson, who led all scorers with 23 points on an impressive 10-of-15 shooting from the field, including a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line. His offensive production kept SFA within striking distance late.

On the other side, A. Popoola  paced Tulsa with 18 points, shooting 6-of-10 from the floor. Tulsa also controlled the glass, led by T. Behrend, who pulled down 11 rebounds—including six on the offensive end—creating key second-chance opportunities.

Rebounding was a difference-maker, with Tulsa holding the edge thanks to Behrend’s inside presence, while C. Christmas has led SFA with seven boards.

In the playmaking department, L. Patrick dished out five assists, helping facilitate SFA’s offense despite committing four turnovers.

The game came down to a last second three point attempt where the Jacks were fouled in shooting motion with just over two seconds on the clock.

Lateef Patrick sunk all three of the free throws and sent the game into overtime.

The Jacks eventually fell in overtime to Tulsa as their season comes to an end.

Finals Score:

Tulsa - 89

SFA - 84
