Overton Falls Short in State Championship, but Makes History

ROUND ROCK, Texas (TXAN 24) – The Overton Mustangs’ incredible postseason run came to an end Thursday morning at Dell Diamond, as they fell to the defending state champions Collinsville in the UIL Class 2A Division II State Baseball Championship.

Despite the loss, the Mustangs have nothing to hang their heads about. Reaching the state title game for the first time in school history, Overton battled through tough competition all postseason and finished the year with an impressive 31-9 record.

Though the title slipped away, Overton cemented its place in Texas high school baseball history—and laid a foundation for future success.
