FORT WORTH, Texas (TXAN 24) - It was a big night in Fort Worth as stars hit the red carpet at the Modern Art Museum for the Landman Season 2 screener, and East Texas got a special shoutout from one of Hollywood’s biggest names.
TXAN 24’s Donovan Bridgeforth caught up with actor Billy Bob Thornton, who stars in the Taylor Sheridan created drama centered around Texas oil country.
When Bridgeforth introduced himself, saying, “Billy Bob, TXAN 24 News, we’re located in Tyler, Texas,” Thornton lit up, replying, “Oh, I love Tyler — Tyler, Kilgore.”
Bridgeforth then asked, “With the Kilgore area starting the oil boom, will we see East Texas get a nod this season, or down the road?”
Thornton confirmed that fans in East Texas will indeed hear their region mentioned. “You know, we do talk about East Texas this season! There’s a scene specifically where we talk about selling some wells in East Texas,” he said.
The Paramount+ series Landman follows the high stakes world of the modern oil boom and the people whose lives are shaped by it, a story that hits close to home for East Texans whose communities helped define the industry.
Landman Season 2 is set to stream soon on Paramount+, and TXAN will be keeping a close eye out for that East Texas moment when the new season drops.
