Karmelo Anthony Murder Trial Set for June 1, 2026

FRISCO, Texas (TXAN 24) — A Collin County judge has officially set the murder trial of 18-year-old Karmelo Anthony for June 1, 2026. Anthony, a former Frisco High School athlete, was indicted in connection to the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf during a track meet altercation on April 2, 2025.
According to authorities, the incident began as a verbal argument and escalated into a physical fight, ending with Metcalf suffering multiple stab wounds. Anthony’s defense maintains he acted in self-defense. He has been under house arrest since his indictment, monitored by GPS.
The case has drawn national attention and sparked emotional debates across social media platforms. Fundraisers for both families have generated over $1.2 million combined.
