Jacksonville Varsity Baseball Dominates Tyler Lions, Win 14-3

TYLER, Texas (TXAN) – The Jacksonville Varsity Indians put on a commanding performance against the Tyler Varsity Lions on Saturday, securing a 14-3 victory at Tyler High School.
Jacksonville wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in the top of the first inning after Drew Diles lined out, followed by two costly errors from Tyler that resulted in additional runs. The Indians continued to build momentum in the third, as Parker Inglehart delivered an RBI single down the left field line to extend their lead.
The game broke wide open in the fifth inning when Jacksonville exploded for five runs on just two hits. Diles and Landen Myers each came through with clutch singles, driving in two runs apiece, while Inglehart added another run on a sacrifice fly.
On the mound, Giancarlo Rico led the way for the Indians, earning the win after pitching six innings. He allowed seven hits and three runs (two earned) while striking out five and walking just one. Tyler’s Felipe Velazquez struggled against Jacksonville’s offense, giving up seven runs (five earned) on six hits over four innings, striking out three and walking five.
Offensively, Jacksonville tallied 10 hits, with Rico going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. Landon Best also had a strong outing, collecting two hits. Isaak “Chache” Barrera showcased patience at the plate, drawing three walks and stealing two bases as part of Jacksonville’s aggressive approach on the base paths.
The Indians’ dominance extended beyond just hitting, as they capitalized on Tyler’s mistakes and executed well in key moments. With a disciplined approach, Jacksonville drew 11 walks and stole five bases to keep the pressure on throughout the game.
Jacksonville will look to carry this momentum forward in their upcoming matchups, while Tyler aims to regroup and bounce back in their next outing.
