TEXAS (TXAN 24) — Fantasy football season is heating up, and Texans are proving once again that football isn’t just a fall sport—it’s a year-round obsession.

According to new Google search data analyzed by FruityKing, Texas ranks second in the nation for monthly fantasy football searches, with nearly 30,000 searches every month. That accounts for more than 8% of the national total. Only California outranks the Lone Star State, leading the way with nearly 45,000 searches.

With sports seasons winding down and draft season heating up, fans across the country are busy prepping their fantasy football teams. Nationwide, fantasy football garners over 300,000 monthly searches, far outpacing other fantasy sports.

While football fever runs high in big states like New York (22,328) and Florida (20,561), states like Wyoming (479) and Alaska (430) show just how regional fantasy football fervor can be.

A spokesperson for FruityKing offered one tip for fantasy newcomers: “Don’t overload on players from your favorite team—it’s risky during bye weeks and rough if your team underperforms.”

So whether you’re a fantasy football veteran or a rookie gearing up for your first draft, one thing’s clear: Texas takes its fantasy football as seriously as its Friday night lights.
