DALLAS, Texas (TXAN 24) — The NFL Foundation and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) have selected Dallas as one of just 16 communities nationwide to receive funding for a new or refurbished football field as part of the NFL Foundation–LISC Grassroots Field Grant Program.
The award is part of a national investment of more than $3 million aimed at upgrading neighborhood football fields, creating safer, high-quality spaces for youth sports. For over 25 years, the NFL and LISC have partnered on this initiative, contributing more than $65 million toward the development or enhancement of over 450 fields across the country.
Dallas’ project will receive support for major improvements — which may include upgraded turf, lights, bleachers, irrigation systems, scoreboards, or goalposts — depending on the final design plan approved by local partners. Each grant is released once community organizations meet specific funding thresholds, ensuring long-term sustainability.
NFL Foundation Vice President Alexia Gallagher said the program has played a key role in keeping kids active nationwide, while LISC leadership emphasized the need for safe recreation spaces in underserved areas.
This year’s grant cycle also awarded projects in Los Angeles, Miami, Indianapolis, Buffalo, Philadelphia, and other communities. Dallas represents the sole Texas site selected for 2025.
The next round of grant applications opens Dec. 15, 2025, with proposals due March 30, 2026.
