FRISCO, Texas (TXAN 24) — A new study has ranked the Dallas Cowboys as having the second-most loyal fanbase in the NFL, just behind the Buffalo Bills.
Conducted by Fruity King, the research analyzed monthly Google search data and fan engagement to score each NFL team on loyalty. While the Cowboys led the league in average monthly searches (11.3 million), fluctuations in fan interest across the year dropped their final loyalty score to 7.4 out of 10, slightly below the Bills’ top score of 7.8.
Social media engagement also factored into the rankings. Dallas boasts 4.9 million Instagram followers, but has a relatively low engagement rate of just 0.28%, suggesting fans aren’t as active on team posts compared to Bills Mafia, who interact at a 1.63% rate.
The Arizona Cardinals came in last, earning a fan loyalty score of just 0.4 — the lowest in the league.
Despite finishing second, the Cowboys’ massive national following reinforces their reputation as “America’s Team.” But the study shows fan loyalty isn’t just about size — consistency matters.
The top five most loyal NFL fanbases according to the study:
Buffalo Bills (7.8)
Dallas Cowboys (7.4)
Kansas City Chiefs (6.9)
Detroit Lions (5.8)
Chicago Bears (5.3)
