SMITH COUNTY, Texas (TXAN 24) — Dalila Reynoso is officially entering the race for Smith County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace, positioning her campaign around accessibility, compassion, and community-focused leadership. Reynoso, who has been active in neighborhood advocacy and citizen outreach across Tyler, said she’s running to bring a more people-centered approach to the JP office.

In her announcement, Reynoso said the role requires someone who is willing to show up for residents in meaningful ways. “Our community deserves a JP who shows up with empathy, listens, leads with compassion, and connects community members to real resources,” she said. “I’m ready to keep standing up for our neighborhoods and make sure justice works for the people, not against them.”

She also shared her message in Spanish, emphasizing her commitment to bilingual access and reaching all residents inside the precinct. “Nuestra comunidad merece un juez de paz que actúe con empatía, escuche atentamente, lidere con compasión y conecte a los miembros de la comunidad con recursos reales. Estoy lista para seguir defendiendo nuestras comunidad y asegurarme de que la justicia funcione para la gente, no en su contra.”

Reynoso’s entry into the Precinct 1 race adds another competitive layer to what is already expected to be a closely watched local contest. Her platform centers on strengthening trust in the JP office, expanding community resources, and ensuring residents feel heard during some of the most stressful legal moments of their lives.
