TEXAS (TXAN 24) — As Texas voters gear up for the March 3 primary, new polling shows Rep. Jasmine Crockett and Attorney General Ken Paxton leading their respective races for U.S. Senate.
On the Democratic side, Crockett holds a lead over state Rep. James Talarico, with 47% of likely primary voters backing her compared to Talarico’s 39%, according to the University of Houston Hobby School of Public Affairs. The numbers mark a rebound for Crockett after earlier polls showed a tighter race.
In the Republican primary, Paxton has pulled ahead of longtime incumbent Sen. John Cornyn. While Paxton’s support is strong, no GOP candidate currently has a clear majority, leaving the door open for a possible runoff later this spring.
Both primaries are shaping up to be competitive. For Democrats, Crockett’s lead positions her as the front-runner to challenge the GOP in November, though undecided voters could still shift the outcome. Meanwhile, the Republican contest could see a runoff if no candidate surpasses the 50% mark.
As early voting approaches, all eyes will be on turnout and how the remaining weeks reshape these key Senate races.
