Choosin’ Texas: Taiwan Expo Highlights Dallas As Gateway For Future Investment

DALLAS, Texas (TXAN 24) - Taiwan’s push to expand its business footprint in the United States took center stage Thursday as government officials, economic development leaders and industry representatives gathered in Dallas for Taiwan Expo USA 2026.

The three-day expo at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center is bringing more than 100 Taiwanese manufacturers and technology companies together with American businesses, investors and consumers. The event focuses on artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, healthcare, energy, mobility and resilient supply chains.

During the Taiwan-U.S. Industry Collaboration Forum, speakers including Bill Frauenhefer, Kelly Coldiron and Texas Economic Development and Tourism Executive Director Adriana Cruz highlighted the growing economic relationship between Taiwan, the United States and Texas.

Taiwan is now the United States’ fourth-largest trading partner, while the United States is Taiwan’s largest export market. The two sides also reached a new investment agreement in January 2026 that calls for at least $250 billion in investment by Taiwan-based companies in U.S. semiconductor, energy and AI production.

Taiwanese companies have already committed more than $10 billion to Texas, including investments involving GlobalWafers, Foxconn, Wistron, Inventec, Quanta and other technology manufacturers.

For Texas officials and business leaders, the conversation is increasingly about what comes next—particularly as the United States seeks to expand domestic AI infrastructure and semiconductor supply chains.
That makes Dallas an increasingly important part of the discussion.
“Choosin’ Dallas, is choosin’ Texas,” Taiwan External Trade Development Council Chairman James C.F. Huang told TXAN 24 News when asked why Taiwanese companies should consider Dallas over other major Texas markets such as Austin or Houston.
The expo’s focus reflects a broader shift in Taiwan-U.S. economic cooperation, moving beyond traditional trade toward manufacturing, infrastructure, technology and long-term investment.

For Texas, the pitch is straightforward: Taiwan brings advanced technology and manufacturing expertise, while Dallas and the broader state offer access to markets, infrastructure, energy and a growing technology economy.
Taiwan Expo USA runs through Saturday at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in downtown Dallas.
