BROWNSBORO, Texas (TXAN 24) — A Brownsboro City Council member is facing allegations of misconduct after allegedly attempting to have a local resident fired for questioning the city’s handling of a police incident.

According to a source, the Brownsboro Police Chief recently entered a resident’s backyard and shot their dogs while the homeowners were present.

The chief reportedly turned off his body camera before the shooting. A witness was also present during the incident.

Following the shooting, a concerned resident emailed Brownsboro City Council members, asking what actions would be taken in response.

One of the council members, Glen Vest, allegedly called the resident’s workplace and asked their employer to fire them.

The resident, says Vest identified himself and insisted that they “knew who he was” before demanding to speak to their boss.

Despite his request, the employer did not terminate the employee.

In response, the resident contacted Brownsboro Mayor Adam McLean and requested to be added to the agenda for the next city council meeting to address Vest’s alleged misconduct.

The mayor, however, insisted on a private meeting first.

During that meeting, the resident says the mayor tried to redirect the conversation to the police shooting rather than addressing Vest’s actions.

When pressed on the issue, the mayor allegedly stated, “Well, this is a volunteer position, so if you’re wanting to get him to resign, it’s up to you.”

Legal experts say Vest’s actions could fall under Abuse of Office and Official Oppression as defined in the Texas Penal Code.

Official Oppression occurs when a public servant uses their position to unlawfully harm or retaliate against another person.

Despite requests for accountability, no action has been taken against either the police chief or Councilman Vest.

The resident plans to attend the next city council meeting and continue pushing for answers.

TXAN 24 News will reached out to the Brownsboro city government for comment and will provide updates as the situation develops.
