BREAKING: Negative pregnancy test for controversial Tyler PD arrest suspect

TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) — Lisa Williams, President of the local NAACP chapter, visited the Smith County Jail to check on Briana Erwin, the woman at the center of an arrest that has drawn public outrage and sparked allegations of police brutality.

Erwin was taken into custody during a confrontation with Tyler Police Department. Video of the arrest circulated widely on social media, showing officers forcefully restraining Erwin as bystanders shouted in concern — with some claiming she was pregnant.

Williams confirmed that Erwin has since received medicale attention, including a pregnancy test, which came back negative.

Despite the negative test result, the arrest remains under public investigation. Community leaders and residents continue to demand answers and accountability for what many say was excessive and unjustified force.

Tyler City officials have not yet released a full statement on the incident. TXAN 24 News has reached out for comment and will provide updates as the investigation continues.
