Astros, Rangers Continue Lone Star Series in Arlington

ARLINGTON, Texas (TXAN 24) — The latest chapter of the Lone Star Series continues Wednesday night as the Houston Astros take on the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field.

Texas enters the matchup looking to build momentum after a 10-7 win Tuesday night snapped Houston’s four-game winning streak. The Rangers exploded for eight runs in the opening inning, powered by a three-run homer from Joc Pederson and a breakout performance from Evan Carter.

Houston nearly rallied behind two home runs from Yordan Alvarez, who drove in four runs in the loss. The Astros have shown signs of offensive improvement recently, scoring at least seven runs in three straight games after struggling at the plate for much of May.

Wednesday’s pitching matchup features Houston right-hander Mike Burrows against Rangers ace Jacob deGrom. DeGrom enters with a 3.86 ERA and 64 strikeouts, while Burrows is looking to rebound after a difficult start to the season.
