HOUSTON, Texas (TXAN 24) — The Houston Astros got a dominant outing from Spencer Arrighetti Friday night, carrying a no-hitter into the eighth inning before settling for a 2-0 win over the Texas Rangers at Daikin Park.

improved to 5-1 after allowing just one hit across 7 1/3 innings while striking out five and walking four. Rangers rookie Justin Foscue broke up the no-hit bid with a one-out single to left field in the eighth on Arrighetti’s 102nd and final pitch of the night.

Houston’s offense got all it needed from Isaac Paredes, who launched a solo home run in the third inning off Rangers starter Jack Leiter. Braden Shewmake later added an RBI single in the eighth to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.

The Astros defense also helped preserve the no-hit effort. Left fielder Zach Dezenzo made a diving catch in the fifth inning, while first baseman Christian Walker turned a difficult hop into an inning-ending double play in the sixth.

Houston reliever Bryan King closed out the game for his fourth save.

Texas star shortstop Corey Seager was given the night off amid an 0-for-27 slump.

The series continues Saturday with Jacob deGrom expected to start for Texas against Houston right-hander Kai-Wei Teng.
